Service Description

The improver course is the 2nd of 4 levels. You must have passed the beginner course to be eligible for the improver course Designed to be non-competitive, guardians and their dogs work together as a partnership to reach set criteria in various life skills. These life skills help to enable dogs to become well-mannered members of society; they are open to all breeds and types of dogs, no matter their age. Skills taught: Recall from distractions (people and/or dogs) from at least 10 metres away Full body exam for health checks (including chin rest and presenting for nail trim) Hand target Complete 3 changes of position - sit, down & stand Being able to settle on a mat or bed with distractions for at least 1 minute Loose lead walking around increased distractions (people and/or dogs) Door/gate manners Vehicle safety - Dog can safely and calmly get into and out of the car in a relaxed manner Appropriate greeting of strangers and being relaxed while conducting a conversation Leaving unwanted items from the floor while walking past
